19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a hard-fought competitive triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.
The win also means Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.
However the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an better serve.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to create a final set.
Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
